Embracing My New World

This world is a different place now. Not literally, of course. The sun still rises in the east, there are still grey, rainy days, there will always be another train and the snakes are still and always will be snakes. But at least now, sometimes, I can finally see their fake skin.

Yes, the world is a different place now. It’s a world tinged with a newfound understanding; a world painted in hues I never knew existed before. No more meteoric dreams and no more false little Ithacas.

It’s a new world… a world where I am (still) learning to forgive myself for the mistakes I made, without punishing myself. I am grateful that I am capable of seeing those mistakes, take responsibility and try to learn from them.

It’s a new world where I can finally embrace the beauty of imperfection without being shamed for it, where I (still) firmly believe that no one owes me shit, and where I am (still) aware that the only person I can control is only me.

It’s a new world… a world where I am learning to let go of the battles I cannot win and where I choose to leave the ghosts and the monsters behind. The wounds may still exist, but they don’t hurt as much, and eventually, they will heal. I have the responsibility to make them heal.

It’s a new world… a world where I am trying not to bother wrestling with pigs because the pigs always enjoy the filth. Where I stay the fuck away from all the holier-than-thou, oh so little “perfect” control freaks. And where I finally know that the pigs were never just three, but millions, and they’re still playing hide and seek…

It’s definitely a new world… A world where I can finally embrace the human journey that is mine to live. And in this new world, I can finally breathe, I can just be me, I can be free, and I can finally sleep.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I walk around it.
I walk down another street.
